If you’d like some free money you might want to enter your name in a state unclaimed money search.
You may have an uncashed payroll check, old bank account, interest payment or some other money owed to you.
LA State Treasurer John Kennedy is urging Louisiana residents to check the treasury department’s Web site to see if they’re owed cash.
More than $400 million sits unclaimed. Kennedy’s office says one in six residents has unclaimed money listed with the state! You never know how much money you are missing!

Santa has come and gone, but the stocking stuffer of a lifetime is still out there for some lucky New Yorkers.
The state controller’s office is holding $9 billion in unclaimed cash for an untold number of New York residents—some of whom are sitting on over $1 million each, and don’t even know it.
Relief from the hard economic times could be just a couple of clicks away.

The top unclaimed account—held by someone in a city suburb—totals $1.7 million. Two more unknowing millionaires somewhere in the five boroughs have $1.4 and $1 million respectively.

Money that belongs to you is apparently stashed away in treasuries belonging to the 50 states and the federal government. Have you ever thought of the fact that you could have unclaimed state money waiting for you in the treasuries of one or more states?
