Mississippi man finds a windfall with unclaimed property

You may have heard that 9 out of 10 Americans are owed money. Sometimes the amount isn’t much, then there are other times where it is a real jackpot.

About 25 years ago Jimmy Sparks, a Vietnam veteran, returned to the United States and found work with Lowe’s in Jackson, Mississippi.

While employed with Lowe’s he decided to invest in the company, so he purchased some stock. Jimmy left Lowe’s just before he reached 15 years of employment and returned to Georgia. He did not do anything with his stock options at that time, not sure what his rights were regarding the stock.

Back to the here, Mississippi and now, 2006; employees at the State Treasurer’s office are doing what they love, tracking down owners of unclaimed property. Jimmy’s name comes up and someone discovers that he is living in Georgia and calls him.

Receiving the call from out of state, Jimmy’s first thought was possibly a speeding ticket. Much to his surprise however, he was informed that the State of Mississippi was holding 14,480 shares of Lowe’s stock in his name and the current worth is about $950,000.

Just that quick Jimmy went from collecting disability benefits to a status just shy of a millionaire. He said he was still pinching himself.

Mississippi is currently holding $35 million in unclaimed assets. Other states are also holding onto unclaimed property. You could be next to claim your share. Simply click onto www.CashUnclaimed.com and do your own search for lost money.
