Uncashed checks are piling up around the country and Treasurers everywhere want to know just what the heck is going on. If you have ever tossed your mail because you suspected it was nothing but junk, you may have contributed to this problem. All hope is not lost, however, as you now have a chance to recoup and claim any uncashed checks that you may have inadvertently discarded somewhere along the line. You don’t need to go anywhere and you certainly don’t need to write or call to find that money. You only need to log onto a site called Cash Unclaimed to find out if you are owed money via email right now.

Rhode Island unclaimed property has made the news yet again. The state is drowning in cash and items of unknown worth and the Treasury needs your help. If you have been living in the state for some time or if you have recently moved away, you might have unclaimed ‘stuff’ waiting for you. The first step is to log on to a nationwide database known as Cash Unclaimed. Once you get logged on, you will be asked for your first and last name, as well as your email address. Once that information is submitted, you will be sent an email including the results of the search you’ve just made. If there is unclaimed property found, you’ll know about it. The only thing left to do then is claim it.

Indiana is bursting at the seams with lost property. Cars, boats, cash, jewelry, comic books and anything else you can imagine keeps washing up on the Treasury’s doorstep. Most of this property is simply left behind. Not discarded, just lost. The person it belongs to simply forgot they owned it. This happens with checks mostly, but it also happens with actual property; land included! With a simple search, you could find yourself with a very nice haul. What that haul consists of remains to be seen.
