According to CBS 7 in Columbia, SC, South Carolina may pass a bill that will let the state join 40 other states in auditing large companies or corporations for money that has been left behind or not paid out. This bill will help many South Carolina residents be united with their unclaimed money.
The passing of this bill will greatly affect unclaimed insurance money. There is currently over 100,000 policies that remain unclaimed at the moment, with no identity. This bill will help identify who those policies belong to so the owners can be found.

Unclaimed money, worth $800 million, has been returned to the rightful owners in Ohio after the launch of Ohio Treasure Hunt. The Ohio Treasure Hunt has had great success in 2011 with returning large amounts of unclaimed money to its owners.
David Goodman, the Director of Department of Commerce Ohio, urges the residents to participate in the Ohio Treasure Hunt so that much more Ohio unclaimed money lying in the region can be returned to the rightful owners as soon as possible. It is after the launch of this much talked about Treasure Hunt the state agencies are boasting of a massive $800 million return at the starting of the New year 2011.
As per the director, people residing in Ohio are unaware of the fact that there are lost property or money located in the region under their name, which is why the state started releasing names of people in the local newspaper.

Fox5 News in Las Vegas recently reported that Nevada is currently holding millions in unclaimed money and property. The amount, to be exact, is over $400 million that is being held by the Nevada state government.
Of the $400 million, at least $1 million is unclaimed U.S. Savings Bonds.

Pennsylvania will soon be using unclaimed money from class action suits to help the poor. This unclaimed lawsuit money will help provide legal aid for those less fortunate in Pennsylvania.
On Friday, the Supreme Court announced that the left over unclaimed lawsuit money, half of the money left over from class action suits, after all the legal costs have been paid, will go to a fund that provides grants for legal aid services around Pennsylvania. This new rule requires 50% of the unclaimed lawsuit funds to go to the Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts Board.

The state of Michigan may be holding $2,000 in unclaimed money for Mitt Romney’s father, which Mitt Romney may be eligible to claim, according to public records.
