Tips For Increasing Your Affiliate Sales

Affiliate marketing has become an increasingly popular way for companies to increase their Internet advertising by utilizing affiliates. An affiliate is someone who is attached to an organization, and, in this case, helps promote that company for compensation. In turn, this helps many people, or the affiliates, earn extra cash. It’s a win-win situation; the company increases their advertisement and pays a commissions, and many others are awarded extra cash for the sales they generate or leads generated.

Affiliate marketing is becoming an increasingly competitive way of advertising, due to the increased popularity of it. In order to help with affiliate marketing, and increase sales, there are four essential tips to consider when starting an affiliate program.

1. Conversion Rate Evaluation

Conversion rates are calculated by dividing the total number of visitors to a website who performed a specific action, such as making a purchase, with the total number of visitors to the website in general. For example, if there were 100 visitors on a website, but only 5 followed through with a sale, the conversion rate would be 5%.

Low conversion rates suggest a problem with the website, and should lead to increased evaluation in areas such as:
1.Sales copy: capture visitors attention?
2.The navigation of the site: is the site easy to navigate?
3.Load time: are there too many graphics and large files causing it to lag in load time?
4.Appearance of the site: is the site appealing to the visitors?
5.Payment process: do you offer a secure payment portal?
6.Keywords: are the keywords targeting the right audience?

By evaluating these areas of a website with a low conversion rate can help improve sales, and thus, commissions.

2. Concise Direction

Make sure the site is offering a clear direction for the visitor to take; visitors like to be told what to do next. Phrases like “Click HERE for your free trial” are generally good to use to offer a clear, concise direction for the visitor. By emphasizing anything free will also capture the attention of the visitor, making them more likely to continue with the sale process.

3. Customized Landing for PPC

If using Pay-Per-Click advertising, being able to customize the landing page for specific keywords that are being targeted is crucial. When analyzing specific keywords, these questions should be answered:

Why will people type in this keyword?
What are they looking for?
Is the keyword informational?

After these questions are answered, it will be easier to customize the landing to specific keywords. Split-testing using different keywords is recommended. This will allow for evaluation of which type converts better.

4. Trust

Gaining trust of the visitor is crucial in making a sale. Emphasize any accolades or rewards the company has received; this will increase consumer’s trust in the product, and make them more likely to purchase. Also, making it knowledgeable the website is secured is also another great way to earn the trust of the consumer.

Analyzing the website constantly, and keeping an eye on these 4 factors will lead to a successful affiliate campaign.
