ABC 7 News Reports on Unclaimed Money: Find Cash

California’s unclaimed money alone is currently over $6 billion. With this extremely high figure, local news station, ABC channel 7, is airing a special story on today’s news. Unclaimed money has become an increasing problem the government has been facing over the past years, and not just California is facing increasing amounts of unclaimed money.

Most states in the U.S. are facing figures in the millions in unclaimed money. Currently, the unclaimed money total is well over $50 billion. Some of the high states with unclaimed money: California – over $6 billion, Michigan – $1.3 billion, Ohio – $1.4 billion, Texas – $2.2 billion, among some of the states.

There are various ways money or property becomes unclaimed. Some of the most common forms of unclaimed money are unclaimed savings accounts, unclaimed utility deposits, unclaimed or un-cashed checks, unclaimed safety deposit boxes, and unclaimed lottery wins. It is also very likely to have unclaimed money in multiple states, not just the current state of residence.

As most governments are going to great lengths to inform the public about unclaimed money they might have in their name, their measures aren’t strong enough to keep the growing pile of unclaimed money tamed. The various state governments have set up unclaimed money websites, where searches can be made for unclaimed money. Some states have also set up fairs and events where the public can search for unclaimed money. These websites and fair booths provide a great search tool along with tips to make the claim process easier and faster for the claimant.

Local news and radio stations, along with private unclaimed money companies, have also been helping spread the word of unclaimed money in hopes to increase the amount of people coming forward to claim their lost money. Listings in newspapers, news articles in the paper and Internet, along with various search websites for each state are all methods that have been used to inform the public on unclaimed money.

ABC Channel 7 news is hoping to reach a large population in the Los Angeles area to help decrease California’s copious amounts of unclaimed money.
