Maryland’s Looking to Save Taxpayers, Not Promote Unclaimed Money

Maryland is debating saving tax payers $500,000 in advertising expenses by cutting out publishing the owners of unclaimed money or property in supplements found in the newspapers.

The state Comptroller, Peter Franchot, instead proposed placing a small ad n the newspapers directing people to go to the website to search for unclaimed money.

In 2011, Maryland had 75,000 unclaimed money owners, and only 6% of those owners came forward to claim their money. With this figure being so low, the state Comptroller has a valid reason for getting rid of the high advertising expense and save the tax payers money.

Currently, Maryland is sitting on over $1 billion in unclaimed money that belongs to its residents. The easiest way to search for your unclaimed money is with CashUnclaimed.com, the largest unclaimed money website in the world! Log on today for your free search!
